At St. Peter's
Nursery School, we provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum for four
different age groups: 2-3, 2.5-4, 3-4 and 4-5 in two classrooms on alternate
days. In some instances, the
groups are a blended age group. Field trips and visitors to our classroom providing
storytelling, and exposure to music, dance, art and nature enrich the
curriculum implemented by the teachers.
Enrichment examples:
- With the use of props or a flannel board, Arlene Johnson captivates her
audiences with each storytelling visit
to our classroom.
- Karina Fidelis provided Portugese language lessons to our M-W-F
Pre-K group.
- Susan Freidman from Dance Designs taught a creative movement class, Movin' with
Ms. Susan, on most Mondays.
- A naturalist Green Briar Nature Center brought live animals and hands on materials
into the classroom.
- Field Trips included visits to the COMM Fire Dept., Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institute Aquarium and the Mashpee Children's Museum. The M-W-F Pre-K Group walked to the beach at the end of
Wianno Avenue for letter B Week.
Application process Enrollment begins in January for the following September. Students currently enrolled and their siblings are given priority. All others are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Consideration is given first to those on the current wait list. Request an Application Packet now by filling out our on-line form.
Our goal is to provide the appropriate environment for learning to take place by: - Creating a positive self-image - Encouraging independence - Increasing social skills - Increasing fine motor skills - Developing gross motor coordination - Increasing speech and language skills
Program hours 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. up to five days per week Ability to extend to 12:30 pm for lunch bunch Monday through Friday.
Ability to extend to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Summer Program St. Peter's also offers a six-week summer program from July to August dedicated to children 2 to 6 years of age. Applications will be available in April.
